ABSTRACT
Despite the huge amount of resources that have been invested into projects by public institutions for this purpose, a good number of these projects have reported an alarmingly high failure rate. The purpose of the current study was to examine the influence of project communication management practices on performance of projects in the ministry of information and communications technology in Kenya. The study used four independent variables of communication planning, information distribution, stakeholder expectation and project performance reporting. The research design that was employed in conducting this study was descriptive survey design. The study used closed ended questionnaires to collect quantitative data. The sample size of the study was 76 project managers who are involved in the implementation of projects in the ministry of ICT. A census was conducted on the study respondents. Data collected by the questionnaires was then input into SPSS version 22 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequencies and percentages. Correlation results indicated that communication planning practices, information distribution practices; stakeholder expectation management practices and project performance reporting practices had a positive and significant association with the performance of ICT projects in Kenya. The study concluded that communication planning projects positively and significantly affect the performance of projects in the ministry of ICT in Kenya. Moreover, the study established that information distribution practices positively and significantly affect the performance of projects in the ministry of ICT in Kenya.
